What’s the rational of putting rates of each items in hotel rooms?

Items listed were; television, hair dryer, mini fridge, kettle etc. Again I find it ridicolous because I think that sensible guest would not want to take these things out.

It is a legal issue so that, if you do steal something and they charge you an exorbitant amount for it, you can’t say anything about it because it was clearly noted.
I think having the rates posted somewhere like on the website and/or at the front desk would suffice.
