Hotel: How stringently are corporate rates verified for business travellers?
Hotel Ratesmariablues asked:
What happens if the Front Desk associate knows that you are using a different much lower corporate rate than the company that you actually work for?

We just take the customer’s word for it. We never check. We want your business regardless. This is a big industry secret.
Some new employee might do a diligent job and would ask for your business card. That too to impress the manager more than anything.
Other than that, say you want a corporate rate and you get it….no big deal.

I would show the company I work for and then advise them that that company was a subsidiary of your company.(or the company with the lower rate was the parent company of yours) Believe it or not that usually works

Nothing. I’ve traveled to places used the corporate from customers who have a facility in that particular area. “I’m in town with —-” and voila, I get the better rate. They’ve never checked and their customer service gets much better if the desk clerk thinks there is an existing business relationship.
