Can somebody tell me whether these hotels are in a good area in San Francisco?

Hello,
I am planning to spend a few days in San Francisco, but I cannot decide which of these two hotels I should take and whether they are in a safe/ good area of San Francisco or not.
Is the Adante Hotel in a safe area of San Francisco?
It is located in 610 Geary Street.
The other hotel is called La Luna Inn and it is located in 2599 Lombard Steet. Is a cable car station close to that hotel and ore the main sights good reachable from that hotel?
It would be nice if somebody who have stayed in one these hotel could tell me whether it is a good/ nice hotel and whether it is recommendable. Thanks!

La Luna is pretty far away from everything, except it’s walking distance to the Presidio and Palace of Fine Arts (and easy driving access to the Golden Gate Bridge). You’d have to take a bus to connect with a cable car. It’s a pretty safe area of town, but busy traffic-wise.
Adante is in an OK part of town. Just stay east and north of the area. Easy access to public transportation (many Geary buses) and you’re just a few blocks away from cable car access at Union Square.

Adante is - a couple of blocks away from Union Square - but I would be careful one more block your gonna be in the loin - tenderloin, and that could be bad.

Lombard is in a very good neighborhood.
That part of geary is near an area called “Lower Nob Hill”, but the actual area is the Tenderloin. It is a touch harsh, but not fully rough.
How close to downtown do you need to be?

The Adante Hotel is located on Geary St. in the Tenderloin area. It’s one of the rougher areas in town, mostly OK in daytime if you keep your wits about you. Some druggies, alcoholics, street people, panhandlers, a homeless shelter are in that area. Hotel is within walking distance of Union Square shopping, closer to civic center and also the Market St. retail shopping. It’s in a very convenient location if you don’t mind that it is in a fringe neighborhood with different kinds of action at night after downtown businesses close and all the downtown workers have gone home.
Lombard St. is a busy Blvd. But it’s OK, near Fisherman’s Wharf, the pier, the national recreation area, public transportation.

I’ve never stayed at any of those hotels, but my husband and I stayed at the Maxwell. It’s in Union square and it was pretty centrally located. Plus it wasn’t very expensive, and the rooms were fine.
