I’ve never been to houston texas so i dont know the airport. Being only 18 years old i dont really wanna be by myself all night in an airport all by my lonesome in a country (I’m from Canada).. Does anyone know if there is a little built in hotel kinda thing at the airport so i could get some sleep that night.. or if there is a cheap little hotel very close to the airport.. and how much do cab rides usually cost to get to one..?
I Do not know which airport im arriving in i asked my boss she said i dont know.. as for to get the “Company” i work for to book this for.. i dont really work for a company i work at a chinese restaurant and im kinda like a daughter to my boss.. so im going on there family trip…. I do know that we are leaving out of Galveston…. & per one of your answers.. i dont care if i have to stay at an area around strip joints as long as i dont gotta pay a whole lot for a night of sleep or a whole lot to get there.. lol.. i just dont wanna spend 12 hours sittin on my a*s in the airport bored as hell…. I’m on my own.. cant rely on my boss or anyone else to help me..

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) has a Marriott hotel on the premises
I’m not sure about Hobby Airport (HOU) but they only do short-haul flights so you probably won’t be going through there

Which Airport? There are at least two. One is Bush/Intercontinental… it handles the international flights. It is WAY north of town, out in the suburbs.
The other is William P. Hobby airport. It is smaller and handles mostly Southwest Airlines flights. It was Houston’s main airport till Bush/IAH was built.
Please note that the two airports are VERY far away from each other. If you are flying into one and out of the other it will take several hours and an expensive cab ride to go from one to the other.
There are hotels at IAH built into the place if I recall correctly. It is not cheap. There are other good (i.e. expensive) hotels near both airports. You will need a cab to get to them. The cheap hotels tend to be associated… well there are a lot of strip clubs in Houston and several are near Hobby. You might want to research where you plan to stay.
Here is a link to hotels.
If you are going on a cruse your ship is probably leaving from Galveston, which is about 75 miles south of Houston.
Please note that there is no public transportation in Houston that is worth taking, especially for someone in your circumstances. Budget $$ for cabs or rent a car. Also we are a BIG city… not just in people (we have more people in Harris County than most American states… we have more people than Arkansas for instance) but also in size. Google up a map and take a look for yourself.
Here is a good link that might help you out. Click on the Transportation link for more details
Lastly, since you are 18 there is no law that says you have to spend the 12 hours sleeping… you aren’t old enough to legally drink in Texas, but there is still a vibrant club scene to check out.
Good luck and hope you enjoy Texas

try LaQuinta Inn & Suites. there are several located all over Houston and they are the cheapest (but nice) rooms I’ve stayed in throughout Texas. Cab rids are expensive here but they are worth it as you may get lost on the bus seeing as its your first time here. Just google this stuff to get the exact rates for the Hotel and cab and choose the cheapest (there are SEVERAL cab companies in Houston and several LaQuintas’:) Have fun!

Larry R gave you some good information.
Additionally; the hotel that’s attached to Bush (IAH) is accessible by underground rail, or by underground walkways. I’d see if someone at your office can call and make reservations at that hotel for you, and put it on the company credit card. (There are signs that tell you where everything is.)
The hotel at the airport is a Marriott, and it’s very nice. The rates usually start around $149, but I’m sure your company can get a better rate for one person if the hotel isn’t going to be booked that night. And don’t forget to tell them you are arriving late, and make sure they will save your room.
Other hotels can be found here. And they probably all have free shuttles to pick you up. You would probably have to make sure you have the number handy and call when the plane lands so they will have the shuttle handy. Ask about free shuttles when calling to check on reservations. (Even a roundtrip fee of $10 is better than a taxi.) Only book hotels on JFK Blvd. The rest of them would be too scattered.

Some of Larry R’s information is not correct. Galveston is NOT 75 miles south of Houston, more like 45. It isn’t even 75 miles south of Intercontinental Airport.
While cruise ships do depart from Galveston, they also depart from the Port of Houston Barbour’s Cut, which is not on Galveston Island, but rather in Bayport (east Houston).
There is a very nice hotel on the grounds of Intercontinental Airport (technically George Bush Intercontinental Airport), but be sure you aren’t going to Hobby Airport, 40 miles south.
Just make sure you have ALL of the information before you fly. For example, booking a room at the IAH Marriott if you’re flying into Hobby is a mistake. Finding out information about one port and going to another isn’t helpful either. Find out the name of your ship and the number of your flight (and airline) and you’ll be fine.
Good luck and fly safe.

if you are flying into IAH Bush airport they have hotels very close by
If you are flying into HOU Hobby there are hotels less than 1 mile from the airport
The cab cost should be less than $10
But never try sleeping inside any airport for any length of time
Just catch a cab and you’ll be at a hotel in a matter of minutes
